“My Girlfriend Donated Her Kidney To Save Me, But I’m No Longer In Love With Her Anymore, What Do I Do?”

This man shared his story showing just how he has been caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Below is what he wrote:

“I am 32 years old and my girlfriend is 31 years old. We’ve been together for 5 years and now live together in a nice house.

Sometime ago, I had serious medical problems and she gave me one of her kidneys to save my life.

However, things have been slowly fizzling out and I’ve been feeling like we don’t belong together for a few months now. I feel like if I don’t make a decision soon we will be married and I will feel this way forever.

But on the other hand, getting a kidney transplant has changed my life for the better in so many ways. I feel like staying together is the right thing to do even if I’m not in love anymore.

I’ll never be able to pay her back. I’m so torn and conflicted and feel like I have to make an impossible choice.

If I stay with her, I’ll always feel trapped and in a loveless relationship. If I break up with her, I’ll forever feel like an evil person for dumping someone who literally put their life on the line for me.”

The European Union (EU) observers of the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections have described the collation process of the elections as “less transparent”.

The group avers that although the voting process was relatively peaceful and transparent, same could not be said of the collation process.

In its report of the elections, the EU observers said they observed that Presiding Officers of the Electoral Commission had a hard time completing the results form.

Included in its report was that they observed instances of tension at Asawase, Techiman South and Sunyani West Constituencies.

According to the EU, procedures such as; counting of unused ballots, counting of ticks in the voters’ register and names reference list, counting of ballots in the ballot box, cross-checking the number of ballots in the ballot box against the number of ticks in the voters’ register and recording the number of voters verified by the BVD and manually, were frequently not followed.

“Collation of results at the constituency level was observed in 35 constituency collation centres with many of them being visited repeatedly. Collation process was less well organized and less transparent often due to a lack of detailed procedures, inadequate facilities and overcrowding which at times led to agents and observers not having a clear view of the procedures and the filling in of result forms.”

“Counting, observed in 30 polling stations, was conducted in a largely transparent manner and always in the presence of party agents. The overall conduct of the counting process was assessed positively in 27 cases”.

“However, the EU EOM observers reported that procedures, such as counting of unused ballots, counting of ticks in the voter register and names reference list, counting of ballots in the ballot box, cross-checking the number of ballots in the ballot box against the number of ticks in the voter register, and recording the number of voters verified by the BVD and manually, were frequently not followed.

“Furthermore, presiding officers appeared to have difficulties completing the result forms. The polling station result forms were not publicly displayed in 17 polling stations although party agents received signed copy of the result form in all cases.”

“Voting was conducted in a generally peaceful atmosphere and voting procedures were mostly followed, including the biometric verification of voters.

“The EU observers reported several irregularities, such as voters not always marking their ballot in secrecy, mainly due to poor layout of polling stations (in 17 percent of polling stations observed), biometric verification devices (BVD) not always able to successfully verify the voters (9 percent), presence of unauthorized persons inside the polling stations (8 percent) and interference with the work of the polling station staff (4 percent).

“Party agents from both NPP and NDC were present in all but one polling station visited. The overall conduct of voting was assessed positively in 95 percent of the 329 polling stations observed. The EC deployed COVID-19 ambassadors to all polling stations to enforce health protocols.”
