Kate Henshaw (born 19 July 1971), also addressed as Kate Henshaw-Nuttall, is a celebrated Nigerian actress, TV personality and fitness enthusiast.

In 2008, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the movie “Stronger than Pain“.

Early Life & Education

Kate Henshaw was born in Cross River State, the oldest of four children. Aged 50, she was born on the 19th of July in 1971.

She attended St. Mary Private School in Ajele, Lagos, for her primary education. Later, she was admitted to the Federal Government Girl College, Calabar, for her secondary school education.

Kate Henshaw spent one year at the University of Calabar reading remedial studies. She then majored in Medical Microbiology at the School of Medical Lab Science afterwards, LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) in Lagos. 

She worked at the Bauchi State General hospital. Before becoming an actress, Kate Henshaw worked as a model, featuring various commercials, including a print and television advert for Shield deodorant.

Career

In 1993, Kate Henshaw auditioned for the lead role in the movie When the Sun Sets and was chosen for the role. This was her first appearance in a major Nollywood movie. He has starred in over 45 Nollywood movies.

In 2008, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Stronger than Pain.

She was nominated for “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the African Movie Academy Award in 2018 for her performance in the movie “Roti“.

On 19 July 2014, Kate Henshaw officially unveiled her campaign website as she was aspiring to represent the Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. 

Kate Henshaw lost the primary election to Rt. Hon Essien Ayi was appointed as Special Adviser Liaison Lagos by the Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade in December 2015.

 In 2012, Kate Henshaw was made the brand ambassador for a UK perfumes line, Blessing perfumes. She is a brand ambassador for “Onga” seasoning produced by Promasidor Nigeria Limited. 

In September 2012, Kate Henshaw and Dan Foster were selected as judges for Nigeria Got Talent’s reality show. In 2013, Kate Henshaw and Banky W were made the brand ambassador for Samsung Mobile Division. 

In January 2019, Kate Henshaw was selected to be among the 50 judges that will take part in the CBS International Talent Show called The world’s Best. She was an ambassador for the giant telecommunication company Glo.

Philanthropy

In 2016, a Twitter user posted the picture of a two-year-old boy, Michael Alvez, born with an ulcerous growth in the face and tagged Kate Henshaw, who subsequently developed an interest in the case. 

She and several others contributed the sum of 8 million Naira for the boy for his treatment. However, the money was returned per the family’s request, who rejected all help.

Personal Life

Kate Henshaw married British-born Rod Nuttal in 1999 and have one child together. They divorced in 2011. Their union was blessed with a daughter named Gabrielle Nutall.

In 2011, Kate Henshaw was honoured by the Nigerian federal government as a member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

Early Life & Education

Patience Ozokwor was born in the village of Amaobo, Ngwo in present-day Enugu State, Nigeria. She attended Abimbola Gibson Memorial School in Lagos. Aged 67 years, she was born on the 14th of September in 1958.

She has had a passion for acting ever since she was in primary school, where she would act in different stage plays. She later attended the Institute of management and technology Enugu, where she obtained a fine and applied arts degree. 

Before starting as an actress, she was already a star before acting and first made it into radio drama. She took part in a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) soap opera titled Someone Cares. 

Patience Ozokwor was married at age 19 and had three biological children and five adopted ones who all bear her name. She lost her husband in the year 2000. 

She expressed her life’s biggest regret as not being able to marry the man of her choice and her children preventing her from remarrying after losing her husband.

Personal Life

The famously known thespian Patience Ozokwor got married at 19 in an organized marriage to her late husband, Emeka Ani. 

According to her, although she had many bidders at that time, her parents forced her to get married at that early age for unknown reasons, except that it may be because of the influence of a polyandry family like the one in which she was born into.

While the marriage life was not going well for her, she remained in it. It was in 2000 that her husband passed on. Before his death, Patience Ozokwor‘s late husband had come to become her real companion. According to Patience Ozokwor, she keeps missing him many years after death.

The famous and most loved entertainer has three biological children and five adopted ones who bear her name. Her son, in the U.S, has a music label and a passion for the entertainment industry. 

She also has a daughter who also has something for the industry, but neither has made any trial to venture into Nollywood. Both her son and daughter are now married.
